April 5, 2017: Dr. Ulrike Gutheil, State Secretary at the Ministry of Science, Research and Culture of the State of Brandenburg, visited the institute today to get first hand information on ATB's current research.
Dr. Gutheil took advantage of the visit for an intensive exchange with the Board of ATB and for a tour through the institute's research laboratories.
In the freshness lab, Dr. Oliver Schlüter and Dr. Pramod Mahajan explained new treatments for increased food safety such as the application of plasma as well as optimized packaging and storage concepts for fresh products.
Other stations were the ATB wind tunnel, where Prof. Dr. Thomas Amon presented measurement concepts for the investigation of flow processes in animal husbandry systems and concepts for a "smart barn".
In the pilot plant lactic acid, Dr. Joachim Venus presented current approaches to use organic residues for the biotechnological production of biobased chemicals.
