Sept. 12, 2016: Conference study tour at ATB "Bioenergy and Carbon Sequestration" as part of the 25th International Poplar Commission (IPC) Conference.
For the 25th time the International Poplar Commission (IPC) Conference takes place from September 13-16, 2016 in Berlin, organised by BMEL (Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture) and FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations). Topic of the conference: Poplars and Other Fast-Growing Trees - Renewable Resources for Future Green Economies.
In the context of the conference, study tours are organised in and around Berlin. Each study tour will have a technical, forestry-related subject and a cultural, historical subject.
ATB offers a pre-conference study tour on September 12 on Bioenergy and Carbon Sequestration. Results of current research within ongoing projects are presented.
Topics are: Short rotation coppice (poplar, willow, black locust): cultivation, harvesting and storage technology; nutrient and substance cycles, emission of climate relevant gases; biomethane & biochar, hybrid processes for energy production and carbon sequestration; use of residues for producing biochar as soil improver.
The conference proivdes an international platform to discuss new approaches and exchange experiences for the future of Green Economies.
