Regiane Alves de Oliveira awarded

June 22, 2017: The young scientist from Brazil is currently researching in the field of bioprocess engineering at the ATB in the frame of her doctoral studies. For her presentation at the 19th International Conference on Bioprocess and Fermentation Technology, Vienna, June 21-22, 2017 (ICBFT 2017), she was awarded the "Certificate of best presentation award".

Regiane Alves de Oliveira from the CTBE - Brazilian Bioethanol Science and Technology Laboratory, Brazil, is currently working at ATB's Bioengineering for her PhD thesis on biotechnological lactic acid production from lignocellulosic hydrolysate using cell recycling fermentation of Bacillus coagulans

The presented results go beyond the hitherto predominant use of sugar-based residues for bioethanol and describe the material use of bagasse for the production of bulk chemicals examplarily for lactic acid.

São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) supports the work at ATB with a ten-month scholarship. The doctoral work is located at the UUniversity of Campinas São Paulo. Regia Alves de Oliveira's guest stay at ATB is an expression of the long-standing cooperation between UNICAMP (University of Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil) and ATB.

Supervisor at the ATB is Dr. Joachim Venus.
