Kick-off meeting of the research project "Plasma-based decontamination of dry plant products for increased food safety - 3Plas".
Nov 10, 2014, 11 a.m., ATB
At the kick-off-meeting Dr. Maria Flachsbarth, Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL), will present the subsidy notifications to the partners the research project.
3Plas aims through the innovative application of plasma to ensure the safety of dry products - while maintaining product quality.
The use of atmospheric low-temperature plasmas for decontaminating microorganisms on the surfaces of food products is being researched intensively for several years at the ATB mainly on fresh produce (project FriPlas, funded by BMEL). 3Plas is based on the research results achieved so far.
The research project "Plasma-based decontamination of dry plant products to increase food safety - 3Plas" is funded by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) for a period of three years. It is supported by the Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food (BLE) in the framework of its innovation program.
Partners in the project are the coordinating Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering Potsdam-Bornim (ATB), the Leibniz Institute for Plasma Science and Technology (INP) Greifswald, and the industrial partners Cziotec Industrie-, Umform- und Werkzeugbautechnik GmbH Greifswald, First Sensor AG Berlin, and Köhl Maschinenbau GmbH Trier.
