Jan 29, 2016: Entrepreneurs from food industry visited the Institute as part of this year´s PromoFood.
The international guests were informed, inter alia, on new methods for quality and safety monitoring. Dr. Oliver Schlüter, coordinator of ATB´s research program "quality and safety of food and feed" explained innovative procedures for hygienization by hydrostatic pressure and plasma. In addition, approaches of tailor-made packaging and storage systems were presented. Another highlight of the visit was the pilot plant for the biotechnological production of lactic acid from agricultural residues. Lactic acid is a basic chemical for biopolymers.
Research for quality and safety of food at the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering Potsdam-Bornim covers the entire spectrum between primary production and food processing technology. Developing sustainable, product-specific technology strategies helps to reduce losses and to make the processes energy-efficient, resources-saving, ergonomic and economical.
PromoFood is an international meeting of entrepreneurs from the food industry, which is to serve the development of business links between companies in the food industry. It is an international cooperation event for companies and research institutions. Partner country in 2016 is Spain. The last meeting of entrepreneurs under PromoFood took place in 2014. PromoFood is an event of the Chamber of Commerce Potsdam in association with the iFUS Institute for Applied Economic Psychology and Aptitude Testing in Berlin.
