July 19, 2016: The young ATB scientist was awarded for his contribution on Bacillus subtilis spore resistance properties to cold plasma.

Christian Hertwig researches in the field of cold atmospheric pressure plasma application regarding the inactivation of bacterial spores on food. His scientific contribution entitled “Bacillus subtilis spore resistance properties to cold plasma” was awarded with the Best Poster Award of the “Nonthermal Processing Division Poster Competition” at the Institute of Food Technologists Annual Meeting & Food Expo (IFT16) held from July 16-19, 2016 in Chicago, USA.  

The research on plasma application is part of ATB's reseach program "Quality and safety of food and feed".
