June 16, 2015: For his research in the field of cold atmospheric pressure plasma application regarding the inactivation of bacterial spores Christian Hertwig, scientist in ATB’s research program “Quality and safety of food and feed”, was awarded with the “ICEF12 Best Poster Award” at the 12th International Congress on Engineering and Food (ICEF12) held from June 14-16, 2015 in Quebec, Canada.
Christian Hertwig received the Best Poster Award for the best scientific contribution entitled “Inactivation mechanisms of Bacillus subtilis spore in aqueous solution related to remote plasma treatment” in the session “Emerging technologies and novel processes”. The award is to foster excellent scientific work as a means of disseminating research results pertinent to the field of Food Engineering.
Furthermore Christian Hertwig received also the ICEF12 – Seligman APV Travel Grant sponsored by the SCI Seligman APV Trust. This grant is designed to support the development of PhD students or young scientists’ careers by helping them to present their cutting-edge knowledge at international conferences or laboratory visits.
The ICEF is a major conference for food scientist and engineers and is held only every 4 years. The goal is to exchange new scientific knowledge of food engineering, promote the interaction between professionals from academia, industry and government, to ensure that future challenges for the food industry are anticipated and discussed and that food engineers provide an adequate and innovative solutions.
