We take you on a video tour through our pilot plant on biobased chemicals. Join Dr.-Ing. Joachim Venus, Head of the Working group Bioconversion in the Bioengineering Department, as he walks through the facility. He explains how highly concentrated lactic acid can be obtained from organic residues - waste streams from food industry or even municipal waste. The long-term goal is to produce biobased plastics. Lactic acid is a raw material for the further processing into so called bio-plastics such as polylactic acid (PLA).
The video can be found on our recently launched YouTube-Channel "Leibniz ATB".
