Nov 14, 2018: At the world's leading fair for animal production EuroTier in Hanover, animal welfare is a central topic. ATB presents a.o. a new sensor for measuring respiratory rate, which can indicate e.g. heat stress in dairy cows. Visit us in Hannover at the BMEL booth, hall 26 D14.
The sensor can be used to e.g. indicate heat stress in dairy cows. In addition to the respiratory rate, it also records the respiratory behavior of dairy cows as well as vocalizations and ruminations.
German TV broadcasting NDR was interested and reported about the novel technology from the first day of the fair. ATB-expert Dr. Christian Ammon briefly presented the idea in the report (German only):

For this innovation, former ATB employee Saskia Strutzke was awarded with this year's Agricultural Economics Award endowed 9000 Euros on Nov. 12. The 30-year-old agricultural scientist developed the device together with her partner Daniel Fiske. ATB holds a 50% interest in the joint invention. The patent (DE 2017121911202600) for "System and method for measuring a pressure difference" was filed at the end of 2017 and is currently under review.
