January 16-25, 2015: As part of the BMEL exhibition ATB presented innovative technologies for grain drying.
In Germany up to one third of the harvested grain has to be dried. Safe storage is possible at humidities of below 14,5 %. At higher moisture contents the risk of mould development is high.
Drying demands for high energy consumption (5-10 liters oil per ton dry grain). For sweet corn, which has to be dried to 100 %, energy demand is considerably higher.
A new method developed at the ATB using new dryer design (below) dries grain efficiently, gently, homogeneously - ansd saves up to 30 % energy.
