22nd March 2013: Today, the Advisory Council for Sustainable Development of the State of Brandenburg has presented its recommendations for sustainable development to the Minister for Environment, Health and Consumer Protection Anita Tack.
In the opinion of the Advisory Council, the state's policy has to make a fundamental change in perspective in order to meet threatening challenges, especially climate change and demographic trends, and to improve the quality of life for the people of Brandenburg. Without a clear reorientation of the policy following the principle of sustainable development policy will not be successful.
In its recommendations the Council targets the topics economy and labor, quality of life, energy and climate, fiscal policy, education for sustainable development as well as biodiversity and land use.
The Advisory Council for Sustainable Development was established on April 15, 2010 by the Minister for Environment, Health and Consumer Protection for a period of five years. ATB director Prof. Dr. Reiner Brunsch is one of the members.
The Council's main task is to advise the State Government in establishing the sustainable development strategy for Brandenburg and to support the necessary social dialogue.
