4 -5 April 2013:
On invitation of ATB-research program "Quality and safety of food and feed", the 2nd Management Committee Meeting and the 1st Working Group Workshop of the EU COST-Project „A European Network For Mitigating Bacterial Colonisation and Persistence On Foods and Food Processing Environments“ (Cost Action FA1202) was held in Potsdam.
With more than 50 participants from 27 countries including Israel, Australia and Brasil, the event was deemed a great success. The two busy workshop days were extensively used for the exchange of ideas and for the further extension of the network.
Under the leadership of the Turkish project coordinator Hülya Ölmez of the Tübitak Marmara Research Center the project partners intensively discussed the challenges of detection and removal of persistent bacteria and biofilms on the surfaces of food and food production facilities for the development of target-oriented solution concepts and treatment procedures for the food industry.
