ATB scientist Muhammad Tayyab has been honored with the prestigious ISHS Young Minds Award for the best poster presentation at the ISHS International Postharvest Symposium 2024, held in New Zealand from November 11 to 15, 2024.

Mr. Tayyab, a DAAD scholarship recipient and doctoral student in ATB’s Healthy Food program area, has been contributing to the Drying Technology working group since late 2022. At the symposium, he presented his part of his research titled “3D cloud point monitoring of quality of purple carrot and golden kiwi fruit during drying process” with a poster and a three-minute pitch and was honoured for this by the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS).

As part of his doctoral thesis at ATB, supervised by Prof. Dr. Barbara Sturm, Mr. Tayyab is focusing on the development of an intelligent optical control drying system for fruits and vegetables. His research aims to advance sustainable and innovative approaches to food processing and quality control. He is particularly passionate about food drying, hyperspectral imaging, and machine vision technologies.

We congratulate Mr. Muhammad Tayyab on this outstanding achievement and wish him continued success in his research.
