ATB temporarily disconnected from the Internet

ATB has been disconnected from the internet since Wednesday afternoon, 27 November 2024. This affects in particular services for communication with external parties, such as the telephone and e-mail system and the website. Internal communication is ensured. There are currently no indications of a cyber security incident at the ATB.

Background: ATB is connected to the German Research Network (DFN) via the University of Potsdam. According to current information, the university had to shut down its network connection on Wednesday afternoon due to an error. It is currently working on analyzing and rectifying the error.

Solution: In the event that the university is unable to restore network access in the foreseeable future, ATB is working on an additional solution that will be available on Monday afternoon, December 2nd at the earliest. However, a construction-related power outage on the institute's premises in Potsdam-Bornim, scheduled for Friday evening and lasting several hours, is making this work even more difficult.

Update – 2 December 2024, 15:00 h

Our IT team has worked hard to restore the ability to communicate. Our employees will be available again from Tuesday, 3 December 2024, 8:00 a.m.

  • E-mail: ATB employees can send and receive emails. Emails sent to us between 27 November 2024 and 3 December 2024, 8:00 a.m. will not reach us.
  • Telephone: The telephones are working at the moment.
  • Website: All websites under the domain atb-potsdam.de are online again.
  • Job advertisements: We are currently unable to fully assess the impact of the internet outage on the current application process. Further information will follow.
  • Invoice: Our ability to pay was not restricted during the entire period. However, electronic invoices may not have reached us.

Update 12 December 2024

Our application tool was temporarily only partially available. This period coincided with the publicly announced power outage. For this reason, an extension of application deadlines was not necessary.

All systems are running smoothly again.
