On October 12 and 13, 2023, the kick-off event of the "Joint Lab Artificial Intelligence & Data Science" took place in Osnabrück. In the joint facility of the University of Osnabrück and the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy (ATB) in Potsdam, a total of 40 scientists together with twelve PhD students and three postdocs are researching to meet the challenges of food security - especially in times of climate change - through application-specific AI and DataScience technologies.
For the kick-off, the directors and spokespersons of the ATB, the participating universities and the DFKI Lab Lower Saxony, a representative of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture and invited guests met at the Coppenrath Innovation Centre in Osnabrück on Thursday, October 12, 2023 to attend a program of informative presentations.
Associated partners of the Joint Lab are the Agrotech Valley Forum e. V., the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) and the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences. Since April 1, the Volkswagen Foundation has been funding the collaboration with around 6.7 million euros.
