ATB's presentation focuses on improved milking technology and an innovative concept aiming at optimized climate in open ventilated dairy barns. At this year's EuroTier, the ATB is participating in the exhibition of the German Ministry of Food and Nutrition (BMEL). Visit us in Hall 26, Stand C 12b.
What are the potentials for improving the barn climate of open ventilated dairy barns with regard to climate change? How can the objectives of animal welfare and environmental protection be reconciled in the best possible way?
We present our concept for an optimized climate control in barns. In the 'smart barn' of the future, the indoor climate is to be automatically and intelligently regulated. The data base is provided by various vital parameters of the cows, which are online recorded with the help of sensors, as well as up-to-date weather data.
The relationship between animal welfare and the optimization of the barn climate is subject of the transnational research project 'OptiBarn' (optimized animal-specific barn climate control with increasing temperatures and increased climatic variability) coordinated by ATB since December 2014. OptiBarn is funded under the FACCE ERA-NET Plus Initiative 'Climate Smart Agriculture' of the European Commission's 7th Research Framework (FP7).

In line with the EuroTier special topic 'Udder Health', ATB also presents a new milking cup, a technical development for animal-specific and gentle milking. The new milking cup is characterized by a decoupled milking, holding and massage function, and enables an autoadaptive control of the milking process. With research in this area ATB aims to contribute to improving health and thus longevity of dairy cows. The project Mema is funded by BMEL.
