An initial meeting of scientists from both institutions was held at ATB on December 7 and 8. The aim was to develop topics for the joint graduate programme "Joint Lab Artificial Intelligence & Data Science" which will start early in 2023.
The scientists met for an interdisciplinary thematic exchange, among other things in the World Cafe format, to collect ideas for future cooperation and to discuss the contents.
The ad hoc working groups discussed topics such as "Modelling in Sustainability Assessment" and "Research Infrastructure and Research Data Management". Many innovative approaches for research cooperation emerged from the very constructive and lively discussions. The ideas are to be incorporated into the joint Graduate Programme that is to start work in the spring of 2023. Of course, the meeting also served to become better acquainted and to coordinate important organisational issues surrounding the implementation of the Joint Lab.
The Volkswagen Foundation is funding the cooperation as part of the "Top Research in Lower Saxony SPRUNG" programme (formerly "Lower Saxony Advance") with around 6.7 million euros. A total of 40 researchers from both institutions are involved in the joint research training group "Joint Lab Artificial Intelligence & Data Science".
