Sept 5, 2019: A group of experts, consisting of scientists from the ATB and partners from science and industry, visited research sites in Southeast Asia as part of an eight-day networking and exploratory trip.
After the two successful workshops in Malaysia and Thailand, Hong Kong was the last stop of the FRUTIC2019 Travelling Conference.
The ATB, together with Asian partners in Hong Kong, had invited to FRUTIC2019, a trade conference which took place on 4 September in cooperation with the ASIA FRUIT LOGISTICA trade fair on the premises of the Fruit Trade Fair.
Despite the current political situation and numerous travel warnings, more than 50 international participants gathered in Hong Kong for an intensive professional exchange. The connection of FRUTIC2019 to ASIA FRUIT LOGISTICA brought together players from science and industry from the entire region and promoted contact with producer and marketing organisations and the processing industry.
FRUTIC2020 will be organised by the University of Putra Malaysia (UPM).
The FRUTIC2019 Travelling Conference receives financial support from BMEL through its project agency BLE. The aim of the networking trip was to sustainably establish and expand cooperation with excellent partners in Malaysia, Thailand and Hong Kong in the field of post-harvest technologies for fresh vegetable products in order to jointly meet the major challenges regarding quality and loss reductions in the fruit and vegetable value chain.
