Re-elected: Prof Barbara Sturm again elected as Vice President of the Leibniz Association

Prof Barbara Sturm, Scientific Director at ATB, is starting a second term as Vice President. At the 29th Leibniz Annual Conference, the Leibniz Association's General Assembly re-elected her as Vice-President of the Leibniz Association.

In gemeinsamer Berufung mit dem ATB hält Prof. Sturm die Professur für Agrartechnik in bioökonomischen Systemen an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Mit ihrer Wiederwahl in den fünfköpfigen Vorstand der Leibniz-Gemeinschaft beginnt für sie eine weitere zweijährige Amtszeit. Sei bleibt weiterhin Präsidiumsbeauftragte und Vorsitzende der Steuerungsgruppe Nachhaltigkeit der Leibniz-Gemeinschaft. In ihrer wissenschaftlichen Arbeit beschäftigt sich Barbara Sturm unter anderem mit Systemansätzen zur ressourcenschonenden Verarbeitung von Lebensmitteln sowie mit der Energie- und Prozesseffizienz in Lebensmittelverarbeitung und Tierhaltung. Hierbei nimmt sie neuartige Prozessteuerungen und den Einsatz Digitaler Zwillinge in den Fokus. Als Präsidentin der Europäischen Gesellschaft der Agrartechniker (European Society of Agricultural Engineers) setzt sie sich für eine intensive Zusammenarbeit aller Akteure für eine zukunftsfähige Landwirtschaft ein.

Prof Sturm holds the professorship for Agricultural Engineering in Bioeconomic Systems at the Humboldt University in Berlin as a joint appointment with the ATB. Her re-election to the Leibniz Association's five-member Executive Board marks the start of another two-year term of office. Sei will remain a member of the Executive Board and Chair of the Leibniz Association's Sustainability Steering Group. In her scientific work, Barbara Sturm focuses, among other things, on system approaches to resource-efficient food processing as well as energy and process efficiency in food processing and animal husbandry. She focusses on innovative process control systems and the use of digital twins. As President of the European Society of Agricultural Engineers, she is committed to intensive cooperation between all stakeholders for sustainable agriculture.
