The PhD candidates of the Joint Lab for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science of the University of Osnabrück and the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy (ATB) started their research activities in the graduate college on September 1, 2023.
On behalf of the ATB, Prof. Barbara Sturm (Scientific Director) and Prof. Cornelia Weltzien (ATB spokesperson of the Joint Lab), together with the two spokespersons of the University of Osnabrück, Prof. Martin Atzmüller and Prof. Tim Römer, the President , Prof. Susanne Menzel-Riedl and the Vice President for Research of the UOS, Prof. Kai-Uwe Kühnberger, were able to welcome and meet the young scientists from Germany and abroad.
We are very much looking forward to the joint training of the doctoral students at the interface of agricultural science and artificial intelligence within the scope of our collaborative, interdisciplinary Joint Lab and wish all PhD candidates a good start and much success!
Background information on the Joint Lab KI.DS:
The University of Osnabrück and the Leibniz Institute of Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomics (ATB) in Potsdam are jointly training PhD candidates at the interface of agricultural science and artificial intelligence. The Volkswagen Foundation is funding the cooperation as part of the "Top Research in Lower Saxony SPRUNG" programme (formerly "Niedersächsisches Vorab") with around 6.7 million euros.
A total of 40 researchers from both institutions are involved in the joint research training group "Joint Lab Artificial Intelligence & Data Science". They will supervise twelve doctoral students and three postdocs.
