May 2, 2019: The IPCC Task Force on National Greenhouse Gas Inventories will meet in the run-up to the 49th Plenary Session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in Kyoto, Japan. Among the participating experts: ATB scientist PD Dr. Barbara Amon Prof. UZ.

The IPCC Task Force on National Greenhouse Gas Inventories has developed the Methodology Report to refine the current inventory guidelines. Since 2017, 187 international experts contibuted to the "2019 Refinement to the 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories".

In five chapters, the Methodology Report summarizes the current state of scientific knowledge. It is intended to complement the current IPCC Guidelines of 2006, which provide the Member States of the Kyoto Protocol with the framework for annual national greenhouse gas emissions reporting. For the 49th IPCC plenary session, which takes place in Kyoto from 8 to 12 May 2019, the final draft of the  Methodology Report will be approved after final coordinated discussion by government representatives and authors.

PD Dr. Barbara Amon Prof. UZ is one of the main authors of Chapter 4 "Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use" of the Methodology Report and Review Editor for the 6th Assessment Report of the IPCC (AR6-Working Group III Mitigation of Climate Change, Chapter 2 Emission trends and drivers), which is scheduled for release in 2021.
