July 11, 2018: Han Changfu, Minister of Agriculture of the People's Republic of China, visited the institute on 10th of July. The short-term visit was organized on the occasion of the 5th German-Chinese intergovernmental consultations.

ATB's ongoing research on animal welfare and sustainable livestock management was presented in the ATB boundary layer wind tunnel. In the freshness lab, the Minister learned about latest approaches targeting quality and safety of food and feed along the post-harvest value chain. In ATB's pilot plant 'Lactic Acid' the focus was on biotechnological research for the production of bio-based chemicals as raw materials for further processing into bioplastics. Moreover, the visit opened up potentials for deepening bilateral cooperation.

Minister Han Changfu was accompanied by Shen Liping, Economic and Trade Section of the PRC, and by Jianmin Xie, Director General of the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. The Chinese delegation was accompanied from German side by Friedrich Wacker, Head of the Department of International Cooperation, World Food in the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture (BMEL).
