26th January 2014: Definitely not a "sour time" had the ATB at the International Green Week in Berlin (17 to 26 January 2014). At the fair, the ATB presented consumer relevant information about the gherkin - from field to glass.
Gherkins from the Spreewald - a German site famous for its gherkin production - attracted numerous visitors not only because of the fresh cucumbers ripening on vines grown in the bed in the middle of the special show of the German Ministry for Agriculture and Food (BMEL).
ATB offered information on the cultivation, harvesting and processing of field cucumbers. A fun quiz for aspiring "cucumber experts" was well received by numerous visitors.
The ATB also presented technical innovations that will help to facilitate the production and ensure product quality along the process chain of gherkins.
Under the motto "From fliers and harvesters" the automatic harvesting with a cucumber harvester was presented. ATB was involved in its development. Fully automatic harvesting methods are working from an economic perspective as an alternative to traditional harvest with the "cucumber flyer".
