ATB Colloquium:
Employee motivation in science - using the example of the ATB
Speaker: Julia Nickenig
Julia Nickenig presents the results of her master's thesis. The thesis is part of her master studies in 'Public Administration and Management' at the University of Potsdam.
A central element of her thesis is a survey conducted in 2013 among ATB employees concerning their motivation to work in a research institute.
Conditions at publicly funded reserach institutes are not always easy: many fixed-term contracts, few career opportunities, limited earning possibilities due to collective wage agreements. What motivates people to work there?
Based on the ATB survey it was also examined how motivated the employees are and to what extent factors such as the behavior of managers, personality traits and social relationships in the workplacecan influence their motivation.
