Summary
NutriAct: Nutritional Intervention for Healthy Aging: Food Patterns, Behavior, and Products Following the BMBF call "Kompetenzcluster der Ernährungsforschung" and based on various existing collaborations, cooperation agreements and networks, the NutriAct cluster was formed in June 2013. The cluster joins high-level researchers from universities and non-university institutions with experts from the (regional) food economy. The main purpose of the cluster is to generate new knowledge and practical solutions on European wide and regional societal problems with the focus on nutrition by generating synergies through exchange of knowledge and through newly established collaboration across the boundaries of disciplines, technologies, and institutions. The interdisciplinary structure of the cluster connects experimental, epidemiological and clinical nutrition research with behavioral science and social medicine and both, subsequently, with food technology and food production. Its ambitious aim is to transform research results on consumers food choices and its consequences into a substantial improvement of dietary intake of the adult population through both, a behavioral strategy and new products. Almost all participating partners are located in the Berlin-Potsdam Capital region - one of the leading national centers in life sciences and the health industry - within a reasonable commuting distance.
