Summary
For the production of high quality asphalt streets fibre additives produced from recycling paper are commonly used. Due to worldwide increasing paper prices alternative resources for the required fibre additives are needed. Agriculture and forestry can play an important role as a supplier of inexpensive fibre raw materials. But a novel processing technology capable to produce fibres with the specific properties required for the application in asphalts has to be developed. A process line based on a modified defibration process with a combination of an extruder, a disc mill and a pellet press has the potential to fulfill these specific requirements. The novel technology will be developed to praxis scale together with partners from industry.
