Summary
By 2030, Europe’s bioeconomy will grow significantly, with biorefineries as key drivers, converting waste and biomass into valuable products and energy for a circular economy. Challenges include fragmented knowledge, uneven expertise distribution, and insufficient policies. The WIRE COST Action aims to harmonize efforts through four working groups: raw materials, conversion technologies, applications, and communication. These groups promote circularity, bioeconomy, research, and EU-wide policy alignment, enhancing links between academia, industry, and policymakers. Through meetings and events, WIRE seeks to shape the future of biorefinery science and technology, fostering collaboration and industry engagement.
