Digital Monitoring of Animal Welfare

The aim of this working area is to improve the health and performance of farm animals as well as working conditions for humans. The aim is to optimise animal husbandry techniques and processes in line with local conditions in order to produce agricultural products in a resource-efficient, environmentally friendly, animal-friendly, high-quality and profitable manner.

Main areas of work

  • Application and development of non-invasive sensor technology in lactating dairy cows
  • Stress assessment, health monitoring, animal monitoring

  • Recording of behaviour and physiological parameters (especially heat stress assessment)

  • Digitalisation of livestock farming
