Summary
The aim of the joint project is to evaluate the climate protection option of rape cultivation by identifying options for reducing GHG emissions, the regionally differentiated N20- emissions, the modelling of N-dynamics and the evaluation of preceding crop effects and Humus reproduction. Based on this, cultivation concepts are developed and published and discussed in a European network. The project aims to make statistically verifiable statements on climate and environmental impacts. These results are needed to provide a data basis for political decisions and to show regional possibilities to reduce emissions. This will help to maintain the production of biodiesel from domestic rapeseed and to comply with the prescribed limits for GHG reduction. Furthermore, optimised cultivation methods are identified. These measures offer both the farmer and the processors an opportunity to meet the reduction targets of the Sustainability Ordinance. The ATB conducts field trials on this topic. In addition, the institute takes over the integration of the results, prepares the evaluation and develops recommendations. The ATB acts as an institution in the European Network for GHG assessment and reduction in rape cultivation.
