Summary
The project will develop methods and decision support that will help achieve the government's energy plan for a fourfold increase in biogas production. The value chains identified barriers to biogas production and development of measures to eliminate them, to ensure a good economy for all operators in the value chain. In value chains will be all part of the biomass collected through energy production to end use of digested biomass. Biogas is a renewable source of energy needed during periods without wind and solar power, and the cheapest technology to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Bioenergy and reduction in greenhouse gas emissions is directly derived from both the biomass composition, and technologies used for handling biomass from the collection of manure and organic urban and industrial waste, biogas production and end use in the field. The aim is therefore for the first time that integrate calculation of value chains in the handling of biomass characterization of the biomass. This will help to ensure a good economy in biogas production. Models developed, which can translate results from new biomass characterization 1) biogas potential with and without pretreatment, 2) reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and carbon sequestration in the handling of the degassed biomass. Characterization and decision support developed in a form useable by managers, consultants and as a basis for policy for the promotion of biogas production.
