Summary
In the PalFaForm project, a novel process chain for the production of moulded fibre parts from biomass of rewetted lowland moorland in agriculture will be developed. The aim is to further develop the process of thermo-mechanical disintegration in a twin-screw extruder for the biomass, some of which is highly lignified, so that the fibre mixtures produced can be used as a high-quality raw material for moulded fibre parts on an industrial scale in terms of their particle size spectrum. The project is being carried out in cooperation with a company from the packaging industry. Research and development work on fibre extraction, fibre preparation and process modelling is being conducted at the ATB, as well as the development of agricultural process lines for the year-round provision of raw materials.
