Summary
The aim of the infrastructure project is to set up a research facility for processing fibre materials from
peatland biomass into functional food packaging. The plant enables processing adapted to this novel raw material, which utilises the material potential, removes production-disrupting ingredients and ensures product quality with the help of process-integrated process monitoring. Until now, peatland biomass has not been used and is usually disposed of. High-quality food packaging made from peatland biomass will replace plastic packaging in the future. The packaging can be recycled together with wood cellulose based materials.
