Summary
With the DiNaLaB project, ATB is building a highly innovative research and innovation infrastructure with the aim of making agriculture in Brandenburg more sustainable through site-adapted production and the closing of material cycles. The research infrastructure makes it possible to develop a better understanding of processes and technical innovations in the field of digitalisation by using sensors and new methods of data analysis to provide spatially and temporally highly resolved information on the condition of soil, plants and the environment, thus allowing information-guided, precise process control. In detail, the following sub-goals are being pursued: - Climate protection by reducing greenhouse gas emissions - Increasing resource efficiency - Improved use of raw materials by recycling biomass - Increasing transparency and improving the traceability of agricultural production processes by documenting farm-to-fork measures. DiNaLaB creates the basis for continuous sensor-based data collection and information generation along complete material cycles: The intersection of microbiological process understanding and digital tools offers a particularly high potential for avoiding losses and emissions and thus for closing material cycles. Many relevant material transformation processes in nutrient cycles and in the carbon cycle are caused by microorganisms. Knowledge of the interactions is the basis for knowledge-based process control. At the same time, digital tools in the form of sensors and modern data analysis methods provide the necessary information on the respective process and system states. When linked, the processes can be influenced in a targeted and precise manner. The DiNaLaB research infrastructure project further strengthens technological and application-oriented research at ATB.
