Summary
The challenges of agriculture are manifold - in addition to the constant, intense competitive pressure, farmers are confronted with increasingly severe environmental problems as a consequence of climate change and are at the same time part of the cause of these very problems such as global warming, water scarcity, soil degradation as well as the loss of biodiversity. How can digitalisation and the comprehensive coverage of rural areas with powerful mobile data services help here? They are the key to making complex ecological, social and regional economic effects measurable and visible in real time. They can link measures to impacts and make them monetarily assessable. They serve as a basis for decision-making, enabling farmers to adapt their management in the best possible way to the environment, society and their own economic viability, to resolve conflicts of objectives between environmental, nature and climate protection and productivity, and to exploit potential synergies. The aim of the project is the digital data collection of the entire farm Gut und Bösel in Alt Madlitz in order to be able to make a comprehensive assessment of an agricultural enterprise and its impact on the environment and society. We will achieve this goal by measuring the complex interrelationships of soil, water, biodiversity, (micro-)climate, animals and forms of cultivation with the help of digital instruments, making them available via mobile radio, evaluating the measurements using artificial intelligence (AI), among other things, and valuing them monetarily with the help of suitable evaluation systems. The findings are to be made accessible for future land use in Germany and also discussed publicly in order to create the basis for further transformation towards sustainable agriculture.
