Summary
Short fibres could be a high value by-product of hemp fibre processing. At present, a high amount of short fibres is disposed together with the dust of the air cleaning system due to inefficient separation technologies. Therefore, novel technologies on the basis of cyclones and screening systems have to be developed, to improve short fibre recovering rates from filter air flows as well as to increase the economic efficiency of hemp fibre processing. The developed technologies are tested and evaluated at praxis scale at the VOFA processing plant.
