Summary
The digiMan joint project aims to develop and test digital humus and nutrient management systems on modern farms. These farms operate in four different soil and climate zones in the states of Bavaria and Brandenburg. Particular objectives in this project are to improve nitrogen efficiency in crop production, reduce nitrate losses and nitrous oxide emissions, promote humus formation and ensure the long-term productivity of soils. Solutions for improving data acquisition, data exchange, digital decision-making and practicality will be developed. ATB will focus on assessment of soil sensors for mapping the relevant soil properties and on the socio-economic evaluation of digital technologies. Furthermore, ATB is involved in the development of fertilizer recommendation algorithms, modelling of yield potential and the establishment and support of a network of future-oriented farms. ATBs Leibniz Innovation Centre for Sustainable Bioeconomy (InnoHof) is going to be a core element of the network. The findings from digiMan will be made publicly available and are to be discussed on workshops with stakeholders to promote sustainable agriculture.
