The construction work has begun! Together with the planning team around haascookzemmrich STUDIO2050, we held our ground-breaking ceremony of the construction project for the Leibniz Innovation Farm for Sustainable Bioeconomy (InnoHof®). With this significant step, the plans for the expansion of the research infrastructures of the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy (ATB) are now taking shape.

The InnoHof® is a state-of-the-art, modular research infrastructure that enables researchers from the region and abroad to work together with stakeholders from industry and practice to research urgent questions of  the bioeconomy. Until 2026, it will be funded by the state of Brandenburg with a start-up financing of 25 million euros. 14.5 million euros of this will be used to construct a new complex on the Groß Kreutz campus. Construction work has now begun on a pilot plant for fiber plants, a laboratory, offices and seminar rooms, and a hall with storage capacity for high-quality agricultural technology.

“The joint research and technological developments at InnoHof® will make a significant contribution to a sustainable bio-based bioeconomy. With the new building complex, we will develop, test and demonstrate innovative concepts and technologies together with our partners from industry and practice,” says Barbara Sturm, Scientific Director at ATB, describing the project. “Here, we are focusing on a co-creative approach and transdisciplinary research with the aim of contributing to a reduction in dependence on raw material imports, expanding our thematic leadership and strengthening the technological sovereignty of Germany and Europe through technology and method development.”

We are very pleased about this milestone and look forward to the upcoming construction phases. Another highlight will be the official laying of the foundation stone on May 5, 2025.
