Since 2006, ATB is operating a pilot plant for the development and optimization of biotechnological processes for the material use of renewable raw materials or residues.
The plant combines all technical components and equipment required for the processing of different substrates, their subsequent conversion by enzymes and microorganisms and the final separation and purification of the fermentation products.
The system can be scaled from laboratory to small-scale and pilot scale (0.5 to 1000 litres). It also allows the expansion or replacement of the classic batch operation by continuous high-performance processes.
The aim of our research is to design processes based on a wide range of raw materials that are technologically stable and economically competitive.
